Porous Pot Chrome Solution Purifier. PPS1 is recommended for shops with more than 700 Gallons of chromic acid solution. |
What is the Porous Pot (electrolytic diaphragm)? The porous pot collects impurities dissolved in all types of chrome solutions including decorative chrome, chromic acid plastic etching, chromate, bright dips, and anodizing. It can be used in any chromic acid solution that has metal contamination problems including re-oxidizing trivalent chrome. The porous pot provided by Hard Chrome Plating Consultants, Inc. is a 40-percent porous, true-ceramic pot, with pores 1/2 to 1 micron in diameter. It is available in three models including PPS2 for tanks under 700 hundred gallons, PPS1 for tanks under 2000 gallons, and PPS3 for shallow tanks. The porous pot acts like a filter in a limited sense. However, more importantly, it uses electricity to drive the impurities through the pores. This action separates even dissolved impurities from the chrome solution. In fact, you may even find that the porous pot has separated dissolved oil from the solution. We have designed the porous pot to fit in most plating tanks. The porous pot is built into a reversible rack that fits into a Reversible-rack, two-busbar system. It can also be adapted to fit a three-busbar tank or a decorative bright chrome tank. When you operate the porous pot in the plating position, impurities collect inside the porous pot. If you install the porous pot in a rinse tank and operate it in the reverse position, chromic acid collects inside the porous pot allowing the rinse water to be reused. This means you can use the same porous pot to separate impurities in the chrome tank and to separate chromic acid from the rinse water. No other affordable technology on the market has this dual functionality! For information on how to operate the porous pot, click here to see the Porous Pot Operating Instructions on this website. NOTE: If you are ordering porous pots for fluoride or Heef 25 ® baths that need 6% tin lead anodes, add a T to the end of the part number. For example: PPS1T, PPS2T, and PPS3T. |
